While trying to get a little more creative in feeding Florence, I’ve come up with what we call the “baby omelet”. She loves this meal so much that she will eat the whole thing. The key to making a baby omelet is using the yolks (egg whites are allergenic and harder to digest) and grating or cutting everything up so your sweet baby don’t choke on the veggies or cheese.
Baby Omelet
3 egg yolks
Black beans
zucchini
cheese
Put a little olive oil in pan. Add beaten egg yolks. While the eggs are getting a bit firm (takes about a minute) mash up a couple tablespoons of beans. Add beans, grated zucchini and grated cheese to egg. Flip half of the egg onto itself so it looks like an omelet. Let cheese melt (about another minute). Cool and give to your babe.

Holly shit I am in love! The most amazing linen I have ever seen by nani iro…I really really want to buy a yard of this but do not know yet what I’ll make, plus it’s fucking expensive.

A few weeks ago I went to Bolt, one of Portland’s local boutique fabric stores, and feel in love with some of Anna Maria Horner’s fabric. I quickly bought some, brought it home and made pants for Florence. It was great fabric to work with, amazing color palete and I think she looks so stinking cute in them. Later in the week I made her and some of her friends matching headbands out of it.

Phew…these shoes were not easy to make, but oh my god…they are so cute! I’m trying to teach her an appreciation of good typography.

The past few days Florence has been taking some super long naps, so I’ve been able to make a little bit of art. It’s so relaxing to sit at my desk with watercolor and a pen…it might be better than a massage.

People caring for 8 month old babies…here’s one of my favorite feeding devices, the munchkin feeder. I just put some avocado in there, set Florence in her chair and I’ve got 10 minutes to eat my lunch.

Inspired by a beautiful spring day in Portland and after reading the rookie mom’s blog, we decided to share a mango lassi. It was quite fun.
Mango Lassi
1.5 cups of frozen mango
1 cup of full fat yogurt (good for building baby brains)
4-5 ice cubes
Blend, pour into cup and use two straws.

Here’s a fun soft block I made for Florence. It was super easy and put my scrap fabric to good use.
